Notary Public Exam Prep (44 Hrs) Distance Learning
The 44 Hours of Instruction will be offered through compressed video delivery. Instructor will be at the LSUS location.
The rumors are true, the Notary Exam is DIFFICULT. This 44-hour course is an introduction to notary public fundamentals, with an emphasis on the General Knowledge component of the statewide exam.
There will be some discussion regarding the scenario component; however, this course is geared toward learning the basics of notarial law as covered in the text. Students will also receive electronically the instructor's study guide and materials as part of the course.
Required text: the 2014 Edition of: "Fundamentals of Louisiana Notarial Law and Practice," which is the Louisiana Notary Public examination official study guide and is available through The Louisiana Secretary of State website. The 2014 edition is required and costs $90 (subject to change). PLEASE ORDER THIS BOOK BEFORE the first day of class!
Out-of-State Residents are not permitted to take this exam, and in order to qualify as a notary public in Louisiana you must be registered to vote.
The Notary examination is Saturday, December 6, 2014. Registration deadline with the La. Secretary of State is October 22, 2014. Forms for applying can be found at www.sos.louisiana.gov or call (225) 922-0507 for further information. You MUST register for the DECEMBER 6 exam by OCTOBER 22, 2014 - NO EXCEPTIONS.
Paralegal Credit: Upon successfully passing the statewide Notary exam, students can use their Notary Commission in the place of one (1) course in the Paralegal Institute (The Legal Research & Writing and the Basic & General courses can not be substituted.) Students must show proof of passing the Notary Exam (ex. Notary Commission) in order to receive credit. Paralegal registration fees do not apply to this course.
